I looooveee my new cleaning all surface product from Method! It is only 4.99e and seriously I swear by it! The smell is great, the outcome is great I can’t state how happy I am to have made the plunge!
Here is the link you can check it out, the products are also available in stores if you prefer having a touch before purchasing.
I first discovered those thanks to my kids’ super Montessori teachers! I am so happy they are there cause I know how like minded we are when it comes to child safety (I know most of you will say that it is a prerogative but believe in this case it is an investment cause they could have chosen a cheaper product that state all natural but is not! So be aware of the false products out there!) I completed an extensive research when it comes to products and what they contain and to be honest you wouldn’t let your kid close to any of those if you realise how harmful those products can be.
For instance:
Dettol Multipurpose ingredients: Chloroxylenol is the active ingredient in Dettol. It comprises 4.8% of Dettol’s total admixture, with the rest made up by pine oil, isopropanol, castor oil, soap and water
And what is Chloroxylenol? thanks to Wikipedia: also known as para-chloro-meta-xylenol (PCMX), is an antiseptic and disinfectant which is used for skin disinfection and cleaning surgical instruments.
I would seriously be afraid to use the same product that cleans surgical instrument on my hand wouldn’t you?
Be aware of all these!
And look what I found:’’ The agency also said today that it is holding off on making a decision about three other antibacterial ingredients ─ benzalkonium chloride, benzethonium chloride and chloroxylenol (PCMX) ─ while they await safety and effectiveness data.’’ From https://www.livescience.com/55973-fda-bans-antibacterial-soap-ingredients.html
And this FDA article on warning the public of serious skin allergy: https://www.healio.com/dermatology/skin-care/news/online/%7Be9d4c8a6-953a-400e-8525-4da243ac185e%7D/fda-warns-of-rare-serious-allergic-reactions-with-skin-antiseptic-chlorhexidine-gluconate
Bottom line some studies show that Chloroxylenol used up to a certain level even in your everyday cosmetic product is deemed non-toxic to human, but is it really? It can kill a fish though! I d say anything that is harmful to nature shouldn’t be used by human neither?
It is a choice of life of course. I had made that decision because my daughter showed early signs of dermatitis, some sort of allergy, we are not sure exactly but she came up with a massive rash and I panicked, brought her to the doc and her amazing doc said it could be urticaria which can be sometimes dangerous so my reaction was simple, I want to know what are the causes so I can eliminate the product (if we are talking about a product) or food if it is, anything really to relieve my child from being scratchy. It does wake her up in the middle of the night and she will come to me asking for me to scratch her.
No one wants to see their own suffer so I am still on my quest to find out what really irritates her skin.
Stay tuned! On the next post I will tell you what products I have changed and if there was any reaction.
If you are facing the same please do share your experience with me. I am all eyes! 😊
