What are the benefits of taking a career break? Or is there any? Some people do because well they can and some others because they genuinely have no clue what they are meant to be doing for. The latest is what I tag the bravest. Yes, let’s just get out of the whole I actually need money to make a living or I got to be somehow famous for something because let s face it the 21st century, not really what I expected it to be, and yet it is reflecting how shallow a person can become. I mean the cobweb the internet is polluting our skies with, yes hypocritical since I am using the internet to send this on. It is just so overwhelming how goes on on the web, the web, master web, technology, and all that jazz.
Call me old school but I like my old friend: the pen and paper. Can I copy and paste from a real page? No but I love the feel of a page…..
Anyhow going on tangents, as usual, I just get the juice flowing and then bang connections are made and eventually will get to the bottom of the post.
So here we are, you and me, the tones of you and myself whom have decided to take a career break, a family break or just some sort of a break and are wondering what you can be doing after that to earn pension before the whole world collapses. Well, the first step will defo be to re-write a CV. Have you seen today’s CVs they are full of discriminatory content…. First your face… why on earth would you want to show your face before getting a chance? You got it I am a brownish person non blond and with long brown curly hair. So? I’d rather give a bit of suspense than put my face out there? What if it stops the recruitment process? Well you ll never know right? A CV is made to give each one a fair chance to get an interview, so why put obstacles? Here again: a home address? Errrrr excuse me how is this any relevant to my ability to do a job? it is discriminatory, if you don’t live 100 meters from the place you work bang ya out! So think! Think again and take your pretty pix out and address, then let’s think outside of the box. Do you want to hire a person who thinks the same way ie helds the same CV as everybody else? If yes then you want a sheep if no then you are looking for a leader, not someone who ll replace you, mind you, just someone who will help you achieve what you currently cant by yourself since you are recruiting.
Open your eyes, working from home when a person has the skils doesn’t mean the person will let you down, it just means the person has the abilities to be professional in every work space and it is a strength. Not physically working in a well renowned company doesn’t mean you didn’t get the skills but it means the person was strong enough to acknowledge a lack of recognition and a need to fulfil something greater. Here you are. You have the best candidate! Don’t be ashamed of pointing that a career break is a strength and not many people can take on because they fear the future. A person whom take a career break for xyz reason is fearless of the future and will always find a way and whether you as a recruiter, manager, CEO, decision maker don’t see, well it is on you.
