Here is a new mission for myself: I am en route to complete a study, researching the stay at home parent real world and real opportunities to work when looking for a job. Hear me out. I am in no interest in swapping my daily sahm status to some sort of ununderstandable title people now award themselves while working in a company.
For real, have you checked the latest?
· Beverage Dissemination Officer – Bartender.
· Chick Sexer – Someone who determines the sex of chickens.
· Digital Overlord – Website Manager.
· Retail Jedi – Shop Assistant.
· Wizard of Light Bulb Moments – Marketing Director.
· Chief Chatter – Call Centre Manager
You can’t be serious right? Whomever decided to add complicated instead of simple in a title is simply genius! It begs the question though of what s wrong with the simple way, but to be honest it just makes the title sexier more appealing if you d like and it might crush down some boundaries or pre made thouhts and maybe it can open more doors I am not sure all I know is that as a freelancer I tend the scare companies and as a SAHM, don’t even bother asking…
So here is my idea: I am contacting first recruitment agencies for help in achieving my research and hoping to get some data from them. Although, I think I am already hitting my first obstacle! Noone will admit to the fact that they wouldn’t hire a SAHM over a non- SAHM well cause they ll simply be in a pickle discrimination wise. So how can I go around this?
Before divulging my strategy, I have to set the record straight:
I only started emailing the top 5 Irish recruitment agencies today and I only chose the ones I had a connection with on the super popular Linkedin.
How long do I give them to answer would you suggest?
Stay at home parents this study is for us all. Show me the support if you think it’s worth it.
I would love to meet with stay at home parents whom had no problems going back to work or finding a great opportunity that has allowed them to keep their work life balance sane.
My next step before getting into the strategy is to find out more about whom transitioned between a successful SAHP into a non SAHP with kids.
